Temo to sum up alleged rape case today

Suva High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo will sum up an alleged rape case today.

The incident allegedly took place at Waimaro in Tailevu on October 9, 2016.

The four accused men are Wame Baleimakogai, Napolioni Leiloma, Luke Sorovakatini who are represented by Legal Aid Commission lawyers Lice Manulevu, Lavinia David, Litiana Ratidara.

And Sanjay Lal is represented by private lawyer Jitendra Reddy.

The four men are alleged to have raped two girls at an isolated spot in Waimaro, Tailevu after taking them on a ride at 9pm.

In his closing address to the three assessors yesterday, State lawyer Taitusi Tuenuku said the two girls had sex with the accused persons out of fear after Lal punched the second complainant on the mouth before raping her.

He said the evidence presented by the State through their five witnesses and documentary evidence showed that all four men were guilty.

Baleimakogai, Leiloma and Lal are on bail while Sorovakatini is a serving prisoner.
