The film portrays how a young girl leaves home to go to school, but had other plans and the consequences she had to go through because of the wrong decision she made.

Davuilevu Methodist High School students will participate, for the first time, at the Kula Film Festival this year.

The theme of their film is ‘Disobedience leads to severe Consequences’.

The school, which was established this year, has a total roll of 91 students with classes from Year Nine to Year 11.

There are plans to expand in the coming years.

School Kula Film Festival assistant co-ordinator, Salote Devo, said some of the students were from underprivileged  backgrounds.

“We want these students to take part and gain exposure,” Ms Devo said.

“The film we are doing is related to the school life of a student.

“We want students to know that when they play truant they will face the consequences of the wrong decision they make in their life.”

Ms Devo said peer pressure was the main factor to why students disobeyed school rules.

“There are students, who play truant because of the pressure from their friends and sometimes they play truant to try and fit in,” she said.

“When students don’t have someone to talk to as a parent figure they go astray easily and we as teachers try our best to ensure that they don’t make that mistake.

“The film portrays how a young girl leaves home to go to school, but had other plans and the consequences she had to go through because of the wrong decision she made.”

The Kula Film and Artwork will be held at Damodar City on July 27 and Kula Dance Festival will be held on July 28 at the FMF Gymnasium.
