‘A Sad Loss For NFP, Nation’

Fiji has lost a thoughtful and committed son.

National Federation Party leader Biman Prasad made the comment while offering his condolences to the family of party stalwart and former Government minister, Temo Sukanaivalu, who died this week in Suva.

“It is also a loss to his community and the nation,” Mr Prasad said.

“Mr Sukanaivalu was someone who stood by the party all the time.”

The NFP leader said Mr Sukanaivalu was a thoughtful and committed leader, not only for the party but for the nation as well.

He said the NFP stalwart was a good counsellor and trusted party member who was irreplaceable.

Mr Prasad said Mr Sukanaivalu had shown interest to contest the 2018 General Election.

Mr Sukanaivalu, originally from Mualevu village, Vanuabalavu in Lau, was the Minister for Rural Development Rehabilitation and Relief in the Fiji Labour Party- NFP Coalition Government in 1987.

He also won a seat in the 1982 General Election.

Younger brother Ledua Sukanaivalu said the former minister owned a transportation business on Vanuabalavu and helped transport students and villagers on the island.

The funeral gathering for the late Mr Sukanaivalu will begin next Tuesday at his residence at 35 Matana Place, Nakasi. He will be laid to rest next Thursday.
