Vutia District School in Rewa received a $1000 donation to start a fund for a proposed computer laboratory on Thursday.

The donor, Asenaca Delaibatiki, said her family gave the money to open a fundraising for the project.

Mrs Delaibatiki said rural schools like Vutia District needed help to bring them up to par with urban schools well equipped with technology.

“The students need exposure. They need to be able to learn about information technology and the digital revolution,” she said.

“Many of these young students do not have mobile phones so they can’t access internet to do their research. A computer lab will enable them to access internet.”

She challenged the school’s old scholars to generously donate to the fund.

The technical plan for the proposed lab is being worked out. When completed, the total cost of the project will be worked out.
