Former Fijian Pearls captain Matila Waqanidrola yester­day tied the knot with her boyfriend Samuela Raganitoga Waqawai at the Vunidilo Method­ist Church, Suva.

The national netball star defender met the love of her life through a friend in 2010, since then they been together.

Speaking to SUNsports, Waqanidrola said his was one of the happiest moments in her lift.

“I’m now looking forward to start­ing a family with my husband,” she said.

“We met through a friend eight years ago and we are settling down this year which will be our ninth year of being together.”

Waqanidrola who works for the Fiji National Provident Fund also represented the country in basket­ball and during the twilight of her sporting career she was part of the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s training squad.

“I believe God brought us together and I am so happy to share this mo­ment with my friends, family mem­bers and people that we love.

“My parents have always guided us through our journey and bring­ing us to be a better couple. We are blessed to have each other and we are looking forward to spending the rest of lives together and starting our new family.”

Waqawai hails from Taviya in Ovalau and was a former British Army soldier. The couple remained tightlipped on where they are going to spend their honeymoon.
