The Jack’s Nadi rugby side took out the Skipper Cup Pre­miership Under-20 title after defeating Namosi 29-24 in the final at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yester­day.

The team received $10,000 while Namosi got $5,000

What happened: In the 5th minute Nadi’s first five –eighth Viliame Vi­bote scored the first try which was converted by Rafaele Tunidau.

In the 20th minute wing Rafaele Tunidau extended the lead with a penalty, 10-0. In the 24th minute Na­mosi scored through halfback Seru­pepeli Cokanasiga, 10-5.

Nadi up the momentum resulting in hooker Sireli Kurucake scoring in the 27th minute, 15-5.

In the 30th minute fullback Tevita Mociu scored another try converted by Tunidau, 22-5

Namosi scored their second try through Uraia Atuera which was converted.

Halftime: Nadi 22-12 Namosi

Both sides battled it in the sec­ond spell with Namosi scoring two tries with one converted while Nadi scored a try which was converted.

Fulltime: Nadi 29-24 Namosi

Comments: Nadi U20 coach Ponijese Lou said: “We are so hap­py with the win and I would like to thank the Almighty for his guid­ance and protection for the team.

“I want to congratulate the boys for their hard work and also for fol­lowing the game plan.”
