Archbishop Winston Halapua has commended Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama for stepping forward and leading Fiji in climate change.

During his sermon yesterday, Archbishop Dr Halapua said the people of Fiji were blessed and needed to address the issue of climate change.

“The Prime Minister has done a good job by bring together the politicians and the society to combat climate change,” Archbishop Halapua said.

“Fiji is a special gift of God and we are the custodians through the leadership of our Prime Minister. We are people who are born to share. The Prime Minister cannot work alone. He needs us and we must all work together and contribute in our own little ways.”

He said people should not be selfish and think of the future generation.

“Our forefathers made sure that they left something for us and we need to continue doing that so that there is something for the future generation,” Archbishop Halapua said.

“We need to bring back what our forefathers did. They knew when to stop and preserve, they knew what we needed. We should not be selfish. What we have today is what our forefathers gave us.

“We haven’t discovered the millions we don’t know yet. Let those who come after us know the jewels.”
