Election officers of the Fijian Election Office have been urged to step up to take electoral services to a new level.

This message has been reiterated to the election officers by Fijian Election Office Director Corporate Services Sanjeshwar Ram during a training session in Labasa.

The Fijian Elections Office conducted a training of trainers workshop at the Hotel Takia to cover matters that may not have been addressed by elections officials during earlier workshops.

Mr Ram emphasised the need for stronger leadership roles within the administration of the election officers’ services in Fiji.

“I also wanted to emphasise once again our core belief in the fact that we must always be respectful, we must always honour other people, respect their beliefs and at the same time ensure that electoral processes delivered under the Fijian Elections Office banner are delivered with the best customer service all the time,” he said.

“Keeping that in mind, I urge all of the trainers to once again revert to earlier directions by the Supervisor of Elections in relation to being humble and polite.

“I would urge you to pursue the same with election officials you will be training to ensure that they do not forget that it is absolutely critical for election officials to provide the best customer service to voters on election day.”

Mr Ram spoke on the need for effective communication and information sharing among election officials.

“The Supervisor of Elections has already directed the office to ensure that training for election officials is given the highest level of priority to ensure that election officials on the day of election are properly informed, trained as well as prepared to handle the day,” he said.
