Jasper Williams High School (JWHS) recorded a clean sweep in the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union (FSSRU) Western Division Girls competition. They won the Under-15, U17 and U19 grades respectively at Churchill Park in Lautoka, last Saturday.

JWHS edged out Swami Vivekananda College in the U15 grade 10-5,  then walloped Cuvu College 26–0 in the U17 grade then finally winning 21 -17 over Natabua High School in the U19.

JWHS manager Kelera Kalou said their achievement was made possible through the players’ dedication and commitment to training.

“We know what is in store for us as we travel down to Suva for the FSSRU Coke Zero Deans finals. We know that it will not get easier but I have a lot of faith in this group of players and we will be doing our very best to get the job done,” Kalou said.

The impressive feat not only see the JWHS brigade recording a clean sweep but it was also a historic achievement, given that they are the first crowned Girls division champions in the West.

She said that they would be preparing well for the Deans Trophy considering the challenge they would be facing from schools like Ballantine Memorial School and Napuka Secondary School.

“We have faced them before and we have an idea of what we will be up against, but we will not focus on them but rather on our own preparation,” she said.
