Mum-of-two relieved, thankful

Solo mum and sole breadwinner Kamila Prasad was emotional after the opening of the Kalabu Housing Project yesterday.
Ms Prasad said after her husband left her five years ago she was struggling with her rent of $600 a month and paying utility bills and groceries.
She was left to look after her two daughters, who are now 15 and 18 years old.
“We are so blessed and I thank the Government for this new home,” she said.
“When we were renting at times there would be issues with the landlord and I was really struggling, especially when other bills were there and I ran short of money.”
They moved to the apartment in May and she said that it has been a relief for her. Now she has money for other expenses, especially spending for her daughters’ needs, because she only pays $50 a week
Ms Prasad works at Krish Fashion garment factory at Four Miles, Nasinu.
She applied for a home in 2016, “finally I got it,” she said.
