Most Fijians polled in the latest Fiji Sun/Razor poll say that the Opposition is using race and religion in their campaigns.

Sixty per cent of those polled agreed that Opposition parties were using race and religion while 21 per cent disagreed.

19 per cent were unsure.

This affirms everything that Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and his right-hand man Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum have repeatedly said, inside and outside of Parliament.

Both called out the National Federation Party on its silence to denounce any such practice, again, inside and outside Parliament.

Mr Bainimarama even called the Opposition parties out during the opening of Ba Provincial Council meeting last month.

There is no doubt religious vilification is at an all-time high and flames have been fanned further on social media.

There have been some Opposition provisional candidates reportedly embroiled in controversy regarding attacks on the Muslim community, but it was later claimed to be from fake accounts.

SODELPA members have stood in Parliament reading out names of Muslims in Fiji who hold executive positions in a small number of companies.

Therefore, this response from the public comes as no surprise and vindicates FijiFirst’s constant rebuke towards Opposition for their inaction to counter any religious and racial hatred.

SODELPA did not respond to the poll results.

NFP’s leader Biman Prasad said: “The question is a leading question and therefore flawed and by extension the poll result from it is flawed.”

Fiji Labour Party responded: “The poll lacks credibility and appears to have been specifically concocted to promote PM Bainimarama’s propaganda.”

FLP said nothing about the case filed against its assistant general secretary Aman Singh, who is being sued by Mr Bainimarama and Mr Sayed-Khaiyum for certain posts made on social media. Edited by Epineri Vula
