The John Wesley College Under-18 rugby team face Ratu Navula College in the Powerade Rugby Deans Trophy quarterfinal at ANZ Stadium in Suva on Saturday.

This is the first time for the school to play in the quarterfinal.

JWC vice-principal Seni Nawanawa said they aim to put on a show to prove their worth,

Nawanawa said whatever the outcome maybe on Saturday, he applauds the boys for all they have achieved during the southern zone competition.

“It was not easy preparing the boys over the weeks but the support from the parents and old scholars has been immense,” Nawanawa said.

“We made the finals for the southern zone competition for the first time and now the quarterfinals for the national championship.

“Ratu Navula College and eastern zone schools have made it the quarterfinals so they are used to the intensity of the game.

“We have achieved so much already heading into the knockout stage.”

Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union executive Biu Colati says this year the game will be unpredictable knowing that all schools are focused on defeating, Ratu Kadavulevu School.

“I do not have any doubt that the strength of competition will be high as compared to other years,” Colati said.

“For those who have been following the game they will know how teams like John Wesley have been improving, so they we do not want to underestimate any team.

“RKS will be the team to beat, but teams have learnt from their previous mistakes and will be focused on getting a win.”

Colati is urging people to come out in numbers to support their individual schools.
