Tilak High School has decided to move away from social issues and is doing a horror film for this year’s Kula Film Awards.

“I was petrified when I heard the script because I am not into horror and the shooting was exhilarating for me, but I trusted my team and they respected my decisions,” director Palvi Dewan said.

“The compilation of the movie was challenging at first because we had to narrow down the characters so through the script writer, Deevina Prasad’s, vision the team was able to finalise the characters.

“The most memorable moments during the shoot was when we had to shoot the horror scenes because instead of getting serious the team ended up in fits of laughter.”

Palvi said Team Tilak wished to portray that boundaries were set by society for a reason.

“We are excited about the awards this year because we have been nominated in a few categories as well,” he said.

“Students will meet friends made through the workshops, talk about movies and share our experiences.”

Team Tilak thanked Film Fiji for organising the Kula Film Awards because it provided students an opportunity to showcase their talents.

Meanwhile, the Lautoka-based school participated in the first year of the Kula Film Awards in 2007 and won the best movie for “The Other Side of the River”.

The Kula Fijian Made Film Awards will be held at Damodar City, Suva on July 27.

SYNOPSIS

Late one night when David and his friends were walking down a street they stumbled upon an Ouija board. Despite hearing and knowing of tales about the board, David chose to take it.

Blindly following him his friends played with the board, unleashing an ancient evil that they could not contain.

Their ignorance leads to the unfolding of a horrific chain of events.
