Serenia Seru says the emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual and peaceful development of our children has a direct effect on the overall development of our country.

The acting senior education officer was officiating at Gospel Kindergarten’s Early Childhood Education programme with parents.

She highlighted that early education was important because the little ones were the future of our country.

“As elders we should invest our time on children and take care of them so that they are ready for formal primary education,” Ms Seru said.

There are 92 kindergarten students with five teachers at Gospel Kindergarten School.

The theme for the programme was “Quality Early Childhood Education and Care is Everyone’s Responsibility”.

Gospel Kindergarten supervisor Akosita Bati said the programme was beneficial because it helped young children build more confidence to believe in themselves.

“The programme creates awareness to parents and the community to take proper care of the young ones because they are what elders teach them,” Ms Bati said.

Gospel Kindergarten Early Childhood Education teacher Sangeeta Darshani said the class was important because students got to learn about each other’s culture.

“Through ECE the children are able to socialise with other kids and make new friends, learn more about each other and experience a playful childhood,” Ms Darshani said.
