The Aritema Ralulu-captained Ratu Navula College Under-18 rugby team is preparing well for their quarterfinal against John Wesley College on Saturday.

The 2018 Powerade Deans Rugby quarterfinals will be held at the ANZ Stadium in Suva on Saturday.

The 2013 Deans Trophy champions visited the chiefly village of Narewa where they presented their i-tatau and also sought the blessing of the vanua before the Tui Nadi Ratu Vuniyani Navuniuci.

Ratu Vuniyani said, “The late Ratu Navula was my great grandfather and this is the first time I’m receiving it on behalf of the vanua.”

Ralulu, who hails from Teci, Yasawa, will lead the team in a bid to bring the silverware for the first time since 2013.

The former Ratu Sukuna Memorial School student joined the Nadi based school last year and knows exactly what is required.

“Our target is to bring the Deans Trophy to the western division once again. We are working on fixing a lot of things in the team. Our bonding needs to be stronger. We have been preparing for five weeks and we hope to come out victorious.

“We have great respect for John Wesley and we know they are coming with the same mission. Despite being the western champions we will carry the underdog tag,” he said.

The team and officials also visited the graveyard of the late Ratu Navula in Narewa village.
