Case Transferred To High Court For Man, 25

A 25-year-old man appeared yesterday in the Suva Magistrates Court charged with damaging property, act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and resisting arrest.

It followed an incident at the Delainavesi Police Post.

Samuela Rogokaci Bokadi appeared before Magistrate Waleen George.

He is charged with six counts of attempted act intended to cause grievous harm, five counts of resisting arrest and one count of damaging property.

For count one of attempted act intended to cause grievous harm, it is alleged that Bokadi, on July 24, 2018 in Lami, with intent to do some grievous harm to Special Constable Tulia Tuikenawa, unlawfully struck the Special Constable with a caneknife.

For count two of resisting arrest, it is alleged that Bokadi on July 24, 2018 in Lami, resisted arrest by Special Constable Tulia Tuikenawa in due execution of her duty.

For count three of damaging property, it is alleged that Bokadi on July 24, 2018 in Lami, wilfully and unlawfully damaged 6mm clear door glass valued at $22.93, a 10 metre gauze wire valued at $67.47, five pair louvre frames valued at $90, 40 louvre blades valued at $71.20, one ply door valued at $30, one 300-litre plastic water tank valued at $162 and one rubbish bin valued $141.89 all to the total value of $585.49, the property of the Fiji Police Force.

For count four of attempted act intended to cause grievous harm, it is alleged that Bokadi on July 24, 2018 in Lami, with intent to do some grievous harm to Alivia Wekanaiwekana unlawfully struck the Police Constable with a caneknife.

For count five of attempted act intended to cause grievous harm, it is alleged that Bokadi on July 24, 2018 in Lami, with intent to do some grievous harm to Police Constable Tevita Matakarawa, unlawfully struck the Police constable with a caneknife.

For count six of resisting arrest, it is alleged that Bokadi on July 24, 2018 in Lami, resisted arrest by a Police Constable Tevita Matakarawa in due execution of his duty.

For count seven of attempted act intended to cause grievous harm, it is alleged that Bokadi on July 24, 2018 in Lami, with intent to do some grievous harm to Police Constable Nicklesh Singh, unlawfully struck the Police Constable with a caneknife.

For count eight of resisting arrest, it is alleged that Bokadi on July 24, 2018 in Lami, resisted arrest by a Police constable Nicklesh Singh in due execution of his duty.

For count nine of attempted act intended to cause grievous harm, it is alleged that Bokadi on July 24, 2018 in Lami, with intent to do some grievous harm to Corporal Talikai Kavu unlawfully struck the Police Constable with a caneknife.

For count 10 of resisting arrest, it is alleged that Bokadi on July 24, 2018 in Lami, resisted arrest by a Corporal Talikai Kavu in due execution of his duty.

For count eleven of attempted act intended to cause grievous harm, it is alleged that Bokadi on July 24, 2018 in Lami, with intent to do some grievous harm to Corporal Smit Prasad unlawfully struck the Corporal with a caneknife.

For count twelve of resisting arrest, it is alleged that Bokadi on July 24, 2018 in Lami, resisted arrest by a Corporal Smit Prasad in due execution of his duty.

Bokadi had waived his right to a lawyer when asked if he would engage one.

Police prosecutor Corporal Josua Shaw told the court that full disclosures were served to the accused.

Corporal Shaw also submitted a copy of the medical report of Police officers in relation to the alleged incidents.

Magistrate George transferred the matter to the High Court because she said counts one, four, five, seven, nine and eleven were indictable offences. Bokadi was remanded in custody and was told to apply for his bail in the High Court.

He will appear in the High Court on August 9.
