Tribute To Some Of Fiji’s Top Musicians Set For Tomorrow

Sunset Rock Rhythm & Blues is organising a show to pay tribute to some of Fiji’s musicians

The show will be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel tomorrow from 3pm to 9pm.

Show organiser, Kathleen Waqa, said the organising committee, Jazz and Blues Events (Fiji), were passionate about developing local music industry and constantly reviving Fiji’s music scene.

“The event is in remembrance of late musicians like Tui Ravai, Wise Vatuwaqa, Paul Stevens, Mateo Rabaka who have contributed to the music Industry and helped pave the way for live music in Fiji since the 1960s,” Ms Waqa said.

“It also pays tribute to some of Fiji’s best in the game like our patron of Jazz Tom Mawi, Sam Waqa, Vude Queen Laisa Vulakoro, Blues man Robert Verma, Rock ‘n Roll Kings Ken Janson, Nesbitt Hazelman and One2Eight”.

Ms Waqa said it would be a night to enjoy.

“We have Gold FM’s DJ Tora who has supported live music throughout he’s whole career, as MC for the event,” she said.

She said that they are fortunate to have the Grand Pacific Hotel on board as venue sponsors.

“Tickets are $25, inclusive of one complementary drink beer/wine or a soft drink.”

Performing for the event are Tom Mawi, Sam Waqa, Vude Queen Laisa Vulakoro, Blues man Robert Verma, Rock ‘n Roll Kings Ken Janson, Nesbitt Hazelman and One2Eight. Edited by Jonathan Bryce
