Fiji’s judiciary has welcomed addition to its ranks follow­ing the swearing of new resi­dent magistrate at the State House yesterday.

Magistrate Kasthurirathne Del­pathe Yapa Mudiyanselage Nayani Nirmala Kasthurirathne joins the Magistrate Court in Fiji after her appointment was formalised by the Head of State before the Chief Jus­tice Anthony Gates and Chief Reg­istrar Yohan Liyanage and Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili.

Ms Nayani Kasturiratne holds a Master of Laws and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Colom­bo in Sri Lanka.

She served as former State Coun­sel of the Attorney General’s De­partment in Colombo.

She served as Attorney-at-Law in 2006 as an Attorney-at-law and was a private practicing lawyer in the fields of Criminal law, Civil law and Commercial law.
