Australia’s welterweight boxer Brent ‘Sugar’ Dames will be fighting in the country on September 1. This was confirmed yesterday by Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) chairman Bulutani Mataitawakilai.

Earlier this year, Dames was billed to fight Sebastian Singh but the fight was called off.

Mataitawakilai said they have sanctioned the programme which was put together by Kiran Promotions and will be staged at Prince Charles Park, Nadi.

In the main 10-round bout, Dames takes on slugger Ronald Naidu of the Mulomulo Boxing Club.

In another 10-round thriller sees hard hitting Krishna Mudaliar of Suva taking on Rakuro Daunivavana in a super welterweight fight. Daunivavana earlier this month held Sebastian Singh to a draw.

Programme: 10×3 mins round (main bout)– Ronald Naidu (Fiji) v Brent Dames (Australia); Krishna Mudaliar (Suva) v Rakuro Daunivavana (Vanua Levu), 6x3mins round– Robin Hazleman (Nadi) v Asivorosi Turaga (Navosa), 4×3 mins round- Felix Williams Chongsue (Lautoka) v Sunia Dari (Suva), Aklesh Pratap (Suva) v Shamal Ram Anuj (Nadi), Esira Cagi (Lautoka) v Epeli Naliva (Serua), Azimat Manna (Navosa), Ronald Kumar (Lautoka), Saimoni Tawalo (Nadi) v Timothy Lee (Cakadurove).
