Elusive Ba strikers Saula Waqa and Samuela Nabenia scored twice each in the 4-0 drubbing of 10- man Jack’s Nadi in the second semi-final of the Inkk Mobile Battle of Giants tournament at the Churchill Park, Lautoka yesterday.

Ba will face Suva in the final today.

Both teams had featured in the final in 1982, 1984, 1988, 1990 and 2006 with Ba winning on three occasions and the capital city side twice.

The Roneel Kumar-coached Ba side could claim their 17th B.O.G today.

What happened: The Men-in-Black had opened the floodgates in the 11th minute through a Waqa header from Nabenia’s cross kick.

In the 14th minute Nabenia chipped over Ame Votoniu after a through ball from Malakai Tiwa to send the Ba fans celebrating.

Halftime: Ba 2 – 0 Nadi.

Ba came back in the full force and regained control of the match.

In the 57th minute referee Kavitesh Behari flashed a red card to Afraaz Ali for a second bookable offence.

Ba took advantage of it in the 63rd minute with Waqa scoring his second goal.

Nabenia had the last laugh towards the end of match when he sealed Ba’s win.

Star Turn: Waqa and Nabenia combined well upfront for Ba.

Big play: Nippy Meli Codro worked overtime on the left flank causing havoc in the Nadi defence.

Ba manager Arvind Singh said, “Hats off to the boys for a wonderful game. We knew that Nadi will be a team we have to be cautious about. We will leave this behind.

“The focus is on the final against Suva as we aim to claim our 17th B.O.G title.”

Nadi coach Maxwell Thaggard said, “We were beaten by a good side and there is no excuse. We will regroup and focus on the Vodafone Premier League next.”
