Attorney-General and Minister for Education Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum encouraged students to do their best in anything in life.

He has called on parents, guardians and teachers, to work together to boost students’ performance.

This was his message during the Deenbandhoo Memorial School awards night on Saturday.

“There is a lot of community spirit in the school,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

“There is a huge focus on the school doing well.

“The parents are very much part and parcel of the achievements of the children have achieved.

“Without your support, these children wouldn’t have reached this far.

“When you have parents and teachers coming together, it gives a lot of drive to the students themselves.

“The children know that the parents and teachers are behind them then, of course, they would do well.

“Not every time we can become winners, but the main important point is that you must always try your best.

“You must all be disciplined, but you also must have the passion. In anything you do in life we must have the passion in what we do.

“We must always try and do our best.

As long as you know you have done your best you are number one,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

School headteacher, Zafarun Nisha Khan said the awards was to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the students at national level in sport and academics.
