Cuvu College Under-18 rugby captain Charles Nakaulevu knows it will be an uphill battle for his men on Saturday.

But they deserved to be in the final and are ready to have a crack against Ratu Kadavulevu School in the Powerade Super Deans Rugby showdown at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

The Cuvu, Nadroga native knows the whole of the western division and his province will be banking on them to deliver.

Ratu Navula College of Nadi is the only team from the western division that won the Deans Trophy in 2013.

“This is a big match for us,”Nakaulevu said.

“This is our first final, our time and our chance to win the Deans Trophy.

“We deserved to be in the final and we aim to end it on a high note.”

Nakaulevu played in the Deans Trophy semifinal last year where they lost to RKS.

“This time we will be better. Our coach is optimistic that if we play our style, we can beat RKS.

“But we respect RKS as they are the defending champions,” the Year 13 student said.

The seven players who played in the semifinal last year are Apakuki Raivoka, Nacani Bulinisoko, Morris Maika, Mesake Tove, Taitusi Lulisine, Sanaila Dabea and Nakaulevu.

“We have a good and balance mix. We will give RKS a good game.”

The side has been assisted by a member of the Nadroga Rugby Union coaching staff Franck Boivert

Play Smart Rugby

Ratu Kadavulevu Schools will compete in five grades in the Powerade Super Deans Rugby competition.

And they aim to return to Lodoni with the U14, U15, U16, U18 and U19 titles on Saturday.

“We are now in the national finals and need to play smart rugby to win all five grades,”RKS principal Pio Veivoli.

“The boys have been reminded of what needs to be done.”

Veivoli thanked old scholars for their support and also urges all the fans to come out and support the teams on Saturday.
