Ratu Sukuna Memorial School headboy Samuela Dakuikaba paid tribute to the final days of training under the school’s cadet programme, saying it instilled discipline in the students.

Describing it as a breakthrough, Samuela said the rigorous final few days of the programme helped him attain the Baton of Honour award.

This was during the school’s cadet passing-out parade at Suva’s Albert Park.

Samuela thanked the Lord for the success and said it was a challenge.

“It was seven days of sweat and blood, but the outcome was overwhelming,” he said.

Samuela said leading hundreds of students was a big responsibility which required commitment and he thanked the students for their team work.

He added that the cadet training would help boost the level of discipline in school.

“We gave it our best shot,” Samuela said.

The Year 13 student of Somosomo, Sawaieke, Gau, wishes to take up studies at the Fiji National University next year and pursue his dream to join the British Army.

He thanked all the students, families and teachers of RSMS for their support.
