Crusaders wing Seta Tamanivalu has put his money on Cuvu College Under- 18 team to win the Powerade Super Deans Rugby final at the ANZ Stadium, Suva tomorrow.

The former All Black arrived with partner and former Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s rep Brittany Coates and their son, Roderick Ben Naketeni Tamanivalu at Nadi International Airport last night.

The 26-year old, who was instrumental in the Crusaders’ Super Rugby final win (38-17) over the Lions last weekend, is here for a short break.

“I will go for the underdogs,”he said.

“I pick Cuvu College because RKS has been winning the Deans so many times. The whole of Nadroga province and the western division will also want to see Cuvu College cause an upset and win the title for the first time.”

Part of his trip home is to watch the Deans Trophy finals in Suva where it all started for him when he played for Lelean Memorial School.

“The Deans Trophy provides a good pathway for Fijians especially for me and Joe Ravouvou,”Tamanivalu said.’

“We started at the Deans and we went on to represent New Zealand. I think there is no excuse why other Fijians can do it.”

This is their first trip home as a family and there are traditional protocols they need to do before they depart next week Saturday.

“It is the first time for us to come to Fiji as a family. I’m looking forward to catch up with the family who I have not seen for a year.”

He added it was a tough season for him so far and now looks forward to his move to France in November where he will be contracted for three years.

“It was a tough year as we were in the final and we were blessed to win. I’m now moving to France with my family in November

He will be playing for Bordeaux in France where he will team up with fellow Fijians Semi Radradra, Eto Nabuli and Peni Ravai.
