The villagers of Natuva Village, Tailevu were pleased to meet Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday at the village.

Village chief Ratu Apenisa Koroibulileka said they invited him to visit the village on Wednesday, which was when he opened the Vatukarasa Nursing Station at Vatukarasa Village.

He said when they returned to the village on Wednesday, they met to set up the programme for his visit.

Ratu Apenisa said Mr Bainimarama was the first Prime Minister to visit them.

The traditional welcome ceremony by the villagers was accorded to him and his team as a show of appreciation.

Ratu Apenisa said most of his people met with Mr Bainimarama for the first time yesterday.

“Most of us only see him in the dailies and television, but today we meet him in person,” he said.

He also thanked Mr Bainimarama and his Government for the developments in their village.

Ratu Apenisa said the PM was a caring leader and they would support him to lead the country again in the General Election this year.

According to village headman Veresa Seruvakarua Mr Bainimarama’s visit was a boost to their morale.

“He (the PM) brings down his level to the people and he interacts freely with all,” Mr Serovakarua said.

“We thank him for his contribution during their talanoa session.”

He also said they would like Mr Bainimarama to lead the country again after the election.

The Prime Minister told the Fiji Sun that he was very happy to meet with the people of Natuva Village as well.

“Today is one of my happiest days as I meet with the people and hear them talking to me,” he said.

He also said he could feel what they wanted and thanked them for their contribution during the talanoa session.

The PM said the civil servants at the talanoa had taken note of the villagers’ concerns.

He said some of their concerns were solved by the Government team. Edited by Jonathan Bryce
