Fake news yet again

They never give up, do they?

The latest wave of Fake News viral from the usual suspects on Facebook right now claims Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sports Iowane Tiko has been terminated.

Not true, says the man who should know: Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou.

FNPF at work in the market

Fiji National Provident Fund now have their workers doing checks at the Suva Market. The market vendors are employing workers who are getting paid as low as $11-12 daily.

FNPF wants deductions for these workers so that they can have some form of savings.

Missing from a China visit

A group of Fijian journalists are heading for a week-long visit to China this month.

The carefully crafted programme includes visits to media and technology companies, industry and development organisations.

A good opportunity to see and learn from the modernisation that has made China a superpower, perhaps?

Mai TV, Fiji TV, FBC, the Fiji Sun, the local Chinese weekly and even online blogger Joseph Veramu think so. They’ve accepted places on the programme.

But conspicuously missing are the Fiji Times. We’re assured they were invited too but declined. However, they accepted an invitation for a Taiwan tour. That’s Taiwan, by the way, which China regards as a renegade province. Go figure.
