Two rural schools in the province of Macuata received laptops from Hammond Care Health and Hospitals Australia to help their students with their studies.

The organisation’s maintenance manager, Ravinesh Chand, said six laptops were given to Nadogo Central College and four to Seaqaqa Central College this week.

Mr Chand, a former Fijian citizen originally from Taganikula, Labasa, said the organisation has been donating laptops to schools in Fiji since 2016.

Seaqaqa Central College principal Jitendra Prasad said the school was thankful for the kind donation.

“These laptops will help teachers easily carry from one classroom to another for conducting their classes in special cases where multimedia is needed,” he said.

“We have desktops, but it is very hard to remove from computer laboratory and carry from one spot to another.”

The school from Year Nine to 13 has 530 students, including vocational students.

Meanwhile, Nadogo Central College principal Mohammed Khan said the school this year was focused on upgrading their information communication technology system and this donation was timely.

“In 2016 we received five laptops from this organisation and this year we received six which we are very thankful for,” Mr Khan said.

“I am so happy that when my students and teachers return from two weeks holiday they will have a smile on their face to see laptops in computer laboratory which will definitely assist them in many ways.”

The school from Year Nine to 13 has 438 students and 34 teachers.
