Maximillian Ang of the Singapore hopes that one day he could swim as fast as his idol, American swimmer, Daniel Roy.

Ang said participating in the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific competition is a pathway toward that dream and he aims to achieve a personal best.

The 17-year old will be participating in the 100 & 200 metre breaststroke events and the 200 & 100 metre backstroke at the Damodar Aquatic Centre, today.

“My aim is to do my personal best and also make a lot of new friends from other countries,” Ang said.

“Daniel Roy and Reagan Smith are two of my all-time favourite swimmers and I hope that I day I can swim as quick like them.

“Having attended the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific in Hawai and comparing the two, I am really enjoying here in Fiji.

“I have always heard of Fiji and coming here for the first time to witnessing how the people are warm and very nice, my plans will be to return for vacation in the future.”
