A 10-storey building will go up from Epworth House in Suva, the Methodist Church has announced.

The Church’s communication secretary, Reverend Wilfred Regunamada, said construction would start soon. He said the initial plan for Epworth House was to build the 10-storey structure.

“It was to help with the welfare of the ministers. During the presidency of Daniel Mustapha they thought to build a building here in Suva,” Reverend Regunamada said.

“The foundation is for a 10-storey building but they only managed to get $300,000 and the bank helped them with another $300,000 so with the $600,000 they managed to build Epworth House.

“It will be easy to build the 10-storey building because the foundation is already there.”

Reverend Mustapha was the first Indo-Fijian to become the President of the Methodist Church of Fiji.

Reverend Regunamada said: “The 10 storey building is on its way. The engineers have already done their survey. It shows that the development is going to go and very soon they will start with the building.

“All the processes are on the way so the physical aspect of it maybe before the end of the year we will start seeing it because there is a lot of relocation that has to be done.

“Epworth House has been a landmark when we talk about buildings in Suva. Lately, because of the development that is happening around the city the management thought to review the rent because we have just done a big renovation on the offices and then we reviewed them according to their location and demand.”
