The case of two men who allegedly broke into a Chinese businessman’s house and stole $30,000 has been transferred to the High Court in Labasa.

Jone Biu, 31, and Kalo Jeremaia, 34, appeared before Magistrate Timoci Qalinauci yesterday.

Police prosecutor Constable Vignesh Prasad told the court that it was an indictable offence and the case should be transferred to the High Court.

He then told Magistrate Qalinauci that he objected to the two being released on bail.

Order

Magistrate Qalinauci agreed and ordered the two to be further remanded.

He said the bail application could be filed in the High Court.

It has been alleged that on August 4 the two broke into Chang Ching Tong’s house in Labasa Town and stole $30,000.

Mr Tong is the owner of Kwong Tang Restaurant.

The case has been adjourned to September 3. Edited by Epineri Vula
