Pola Lois was awarded the Miss Personality title during the Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North at Subrail Park in Labasa on Friday night.

The 24-year-old lass, sponsored by the Labasa Town Council, works as a health inspector with the council.

She was surprised with the win.

“It’s a great feeling. I would like to thank all the 11 queen contestants for choosing me to be Miss Personality,” Miss Lois said.

“The weeklong festival has been very enjoyable for me seeing hundreds of people gathered at the park every night.

“Also spending time with fellow contestants on and off the stage has been an amazing experience.

“We can be queen contestant once in a lifetime and having this in mind I would like to thank everyone who supported me to stand on the platform.”

The second eldest of four siblings has a twin sister.

Since today (Saturday) is the last day for me I would like to urge people based on my advocacy message.

“If you have dengue fever like illness, please visit your nearest health centre or doctor and seek medical attention. In some cases when ignored it can be fatal,” she said.

Last year, according to the Ministry of Health, there were 898 dengue fever cases in Labasa.

This was recorded as the highest in the Northern Division.

“This year from January to June there were 1369 dengue fever cases, which is a vast increase compared to last year’s statistics,” Miss Lois said. Edited by Percy Kean
