Samoan Prime Minister Tuilaepa Aiono Sailele Malielegaoi will arrive in the country today for a three-day official visit.

Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office Yogesh Karan confirmed that part of the Samoan Prime Minister’s visit would also be a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

Bilateral meetings are important for the purpose of sharing information and expertise as well as technology transfer in order to increase capacity and performance.

Tuilaepa will also be addressing the University of the South Pacific as part of the USP’s 50th anniversary celebration.

In September, 2017, during the opening of the 48th Pacific Islands Leaders Forum and related meetings in Apia, Samoa, Tuilaepa had called on all Pacific Island leaders to rally behind the COP 23 Fijian Presidency.

Head of the Fijian delegation at the forum and related meetings, Minister of Defence and National Security, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola said support from the Samoan Government strengthened Fiji’s strategy for solidarity and the development of clear pathways at COP 23.
