The 20-year-old man, suspected of having killed a student at the Fiji Development Bank carpark on May 17, 2018, had his case transferred to the High Court in Suva yesterday.

Saula Temo appeared before Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama charged with one count of murder.

He is alleged to have hit Akuila Salavuki’s head with a piece of timber and as a result of that conduct caused 23-year-old Salavuki’s death.

Police Prosecutor Constable Walter Taito made an application for the matter to be transferred to the High Court because of the seriousness of the charge.

On the day of the alleged incident the accused was dancing with the deceased at a popular Suva nightclub after which they left the club together and were allegedly seen walking hand in hand to the back of FDB.

Magistrate Bodaragama adjourned the case to September 10, 2018 for first call in the High Court.

Temo is being held in custody until his next court date.
