The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service has advised carrier shipping agents, cargo agents and Vessel Saving Arrangement (VSA) partners in Suva and Lautoka, that changes in the manifest registration in regards to import and export procedures is effective this Saturday, September 1, 2018.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Visvanath Das said only carrier and shipping agents should register inward and outward cargo manifest in the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) world system for inbound and outbound vessels carrying import and export cargo.

“Carrier and shipping agents should register only one (1) import and export cargo manifest per inward/outward vessel and any addition to the registered import and export cargo manifest will require a formal request for manifest amendment,” Mr Das said.

Carrier and shipping agents, he said should register all direct Bill of Lading (B/L) s, VSA partners’ and Freight Forwarders’ master B/L (MBL).

“Carrier and shipping agents should enter VSA partners’/Freight Forwarders’ Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) in the Cargo agent field on all MBL,” he said.

A Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is an identifying number used for tax purposes.

Mr Das said this also applied to VSA partners/freight forwarders as authorized cargo agents should link the entire house B/L to the MBL registered by the carrier/shipping agents within 24 hours from time of departure for outbound vessels, and 48 hours before arrival for inbound vessels.

“The service wishes to advise all stakeholders that failure to adhere to the above instructions will result in imposition of appropriate action as stipulated in the customs legislation,” he said.
