Special Parliament Sitting On Friday To Appoint President
President Major-General (Ret'd) Jioji Konusi Konrote with his family after he was appointed President in 2015.

Speaker of Parliament Dr Jiko Luveni has advised that a special Parliament sitting will take place this Friday, 31 August 2018.

The Parliament sitting is to appoint the President of the Republic of Fiji.

This is pursuant to section 85(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Fiji, ‘The President holds office for 3 years, and is eligible for reappointment for one further term of 3 years, but is not eligible for re-appointment after that.’

Parliament will sit at 9.30am.

Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote was appointed by Parliament on 12 October 2015.
