Ministry Activates Water Cart Response To Dry Spell

water carting response programme will be activated in the next two-months to counter the dry weather spell around the country.

This will be an initiative by the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development, National Disaster Management and Meteorological Services.

In a statement, the ministry advised those in affected areas that a water supply operation would be carried out during the next two months.

“The public is advised that the times indicated in the following water supply distribution programme are estimated times of arrival at the various locations,: the ministry said.

“And we hope for your understanding should there be slight delays due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances beyond the ministry’s control.”

The planned water supply distribution programme for the next two weeks in the maritime areas, weather permitting is as follows:

Eastern Division 

Lomaiviti group:

  • The MLC Sigavou will be carting water at Makogai Island from 6am (Tuesday 28th August, 2018) to 12pm Wednesday (29th August, 2018).
  • The water carting in Batiki will start from 2pm Wednesday (29th August, 2018) to 5pm Saturday (1st sep, 2018).
  • The water carting in Nairai will start from 6pm Saturday (1st September, 2018) to 6pm Monday (3rd Sept, 2018).
  • The water carting in Moturiki will start from 9pm Monday (3rd Sept, 2018) to 5am Thursday (6th Sept, 2018). The vessel will not be able to cart water to shore. No anchorage point. Vessel will berth close to Naqeledamu on Ovalau island, and water will be carted to Nasauvuki.

Lau Group:

  •  The MLC Sigavou will be carting water at Avea island from 8am (Sunday 8th Sept, 2018) to 7am Monday (10th September, 2018).
  •  The water carting in Cikobia will start from 8am Monday (10th Sept, 2018) to 10pm Tuesday (11th Sept, 2018).

Northern Division

Northern Lau/ Vanua Levu Group:

  •  The MLC Vunilagi will be carting water at Yadua from 8am (Tuesday 28th August, 2018) to 6pm Wednesday (29th August, 2018).
  •  The water carting in Yagaqa will start from 12am Thursday (30th August, 2018) to 4am Thursday (30th August, 2018).
  • The water carting in Galoa will start from 8am Friday (31st August, 2018) to 5am Saturday (1st September, 2018).
  • The water carting in Tavea will start from 8am Saturday (1st September, 2018) to 4am Sunday (2nd September, 2018).
  • The water carting in Yaro will start from 8am Sunday (2nd September, 2018) to 5am Monday (3rd September, 2018).
  • The water carting in Mali will start from 7am Monday (3rd September, 2018) to 6pm Sunday (3rd September, 2018).
  • The water carting in Druadrua will start from 6am Friday (7th September, 2018).

Western Division

Yasawa Group:

  • The MLC Vatulawa will be carting water at Malolo from 7pm Monday (27th August, 2018) to 6am Wednesday (29th August, 2018).
  • Water carting in Waya will start from 9am Wednesday (29th August, 2018) to 5am Sunday (2nd September, 2018).
  • Water carting in Waya Levu will start from 6am Sunday (2nd September, 2018) to 5am Wednesday (5th September, 2018).
  • Water carting in Naviti will start from 6am Wednesday (5th September, 2018) to 5pm Saturday (8th September, 2018).
