The inclusion of three Fijian players Isi Naisarani, Sefanaia Naivalu and Kitione Ratu will help counter the open and attractive rugby by the Fiji Airways Fijian Drua, says Eoin Toolan.

The Melbourne Rising coach said the first game in the National Rugby Championship is important and they have chosen their best team for the match today.

“It has been hard training for the boys and I think the boys are ready,” Toolan said.

“We know they have 11 Flying Fijians in the Drua side so they are going to be a competitive team.

“I think both teams will try and play open and attractive rugby, Sefa, Isi and Kiti will try and do likewise.

“It will be a good spectacle and the backrow play will be tremendous as well so we will need to be at our best to compete with the Drua.

“The start will be really important as once the Fijians get momentum, they grow an extra two feet so it is important for us to try and control the tempo and get off to a fast start.”

Toolan added they are proud to bring Fijians boys to play in Fiji.

“It is going to be a big occasion for them and they keep telling me that they will have a lot of family at the game so it is important for us as a squad to represent them as best as we can and give them a good day,” he added.

The match will kick-off at 3pm at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.
