The Fijian Rugby Under-16 and U18 head coach Masi Saqanavere is happy with the quality of players selected to represent Fiji in overseas competitions later this month.

The U16 side will participate in the U16 Australian National Rugby Championship while the U18 will tour New Zealand.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Saqanavere said heading into their third week of preparation he has seen a lot of improvement in the players. Saqanavere added that he is really happy with how the teams have turned out.

“The boys are giving their 101 percent effort and that is the reason we been having quality sessions every time,” Saqanavere said.

“So far we are happy with their attitude especially with the effort the boys bring on the field.

“We still have not named the 26 players that will be playing overseas for the competitions but the boys have really blended well and it has helped in our preparation.

“For the first two weeks we have been dealing with the basics by this week we are going into the big picture and we are putting everything together.”

Fiji Airways Fijian Drua head coach Senirusi Seruvakula who was helping out during training at Bidesi Park acknowledged the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union and Fiji Rugby Union in developing the players at an early age.

“This is the pathway, they are the future Flying Fijians, if they have the right training some of them will be knocking on the door in a couple of years time,” Seruvakula said.
