Fiji Swimming will be sending a team to the New Zealand Open Championship on October 2-6.

Fiji Swimming president Ben Rova made the comment during Short Course Grand Prix Series in Nadi yesterday.

“We planned to send five or six senior swimmers as the New Zealand Champs is a qualifier for the FINA World Championship in China in December,”Rova said.

Rova said being IOC scholarship holders Taichi Vakasama and Matelita Buadromo must take part.

“As part of their scholarship requirements, they are to attend the championship. We also have swimmers like Herbert Rabua, Yolani Blake, Tevita Fotofili, Oakley Jones and Ela Rasau who will be vying to make the cut.”

Rova was impressed with the performance of the individual athletes.
