The new rugby field, athletic tracks and a 15-metre jumping pit at Marist Brothers High School was opened by the Mayor of Guangzhou Wen Guohui yesterday.

“It is an honour for us to help in the sports field reconstruction programme and make our contribution to the education in Fiji,” Guohui said

Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Bale Tuitubou acknowledged the Chinese government for the assistance.

“I fully acknowledge your commitment in completing the sports field,” Tuitubou said

“I understand that as part of our bilateral agreement, the Chinese government will upgrade another sports field at Saint John Bosco Primary School in Nasinu and we are looking forward to a successful completion of the project.

“We believe that all this assistance will greatly benefit all the Fijians.”

“These facilities will help our youths to develop and showcase their talents and skills in having an international standard facility “This is something that we should all be proud of and hopefully the school will continue to produce elite sports athletes.”
