Fiji Labour Party today signed a partnership and cooperation agreement with the Freedom Alliance Party to contest the November 14 general election under the FLP banner.

Freedom Alliance under the leadership of Suva lawyer, Jagath Karunaratne has appealed to all supporters and the public to rally behind the candidates of the Fiji Labour Party.

In a joint statement issued during a press conference, the parties said: “Both Labour and Freedom Alliance have policies that are people-centred and will ensure social and economic justice for our people. We believe in inclusive, open, honest and accountable government and sustainable development policies that will ensure the long-term prosperity of the nation and our people.”

A candidate list will be released before the closing of nomination day next Monday.

In the 2014 general election, FLP had raked in 11,670 votes while Freedom Alliance (which was called Fiji United Freedom Party) only managed 1072. Both parties did not meet the threshold.
