Many people flocked to Albert Park in Suva yesterday to watch the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) concert to celebrate Fiji Day.

Naomi Mclean of Australia said she heard about the function from her workmates.

“I am really enjoying the concert with my family and I am getting to meet many people,” she said.

“My children are also having a good time and it’s nice to see Fiji celebrating their independence so proudly with togetherness. It’s nice to see children and adults receiving gifts,” she said.

Ms Mclean has only been in the country for a month and yesterday was her first Fiji Day event.

Peni Rasinupati and his wife Livia were also enjoying the concert at the park.

Mr Rasinupati said they had an amazing time watching performances like the Masti group.

“It is a very good initiative by FBC to host a concert like this on Fiji Day for couples like us. We have enjoyed the day,” he said.

There was live entertainment for both children and adults, which ended at 10pm.
