Imtiaz Sahib has attributed his daughter’s success to dedication and hard work in her studies.

His daughter, Shaleha Sahib, was named the 2018 Dux of Lautoka Muslim Primary School during the annual prizegiving ceremony yesterday. Mr Sahib said all her hard work was finally paying off.

“It’s hard to express how I feel, but I would say that her dedication and focus towards education has paid off today.

“I am taking it as a lesson for myself that you will be rewarded for sincere hard work, you cannot take it for granted that automatically good results will come your way.

“You have to make the necessary sacrifices to accomplish any mission or goals.

“We did not force her to study, it was out of her own interest that she committed herself to school work.”

In trial test one, she scored 493/500, trial test two, 481/500 and in trial test three she scored 488/500.

In her examinations in term one she scored 486/500, in term two she scored 495/500 and her marks in term three were 487/500.

Chief guest and Minister for Local Government, Housing, Infrastructure and Transport, Parveen Bala, urged students to continue to do better in life.

“I would like all of you to continue to strive to do better in future,” he said.

“Those who did not win any prizes this year, just keep in mind that you should not lose hope, this is not the end of the world, there will be many more opportunities coming your way to prove yourself.”

Mr Bala also acknowledged the teachers of the school for their effort in looking after the students.
