For Ishika Arishma Chand, holding her newborn son for the first time was greater than any joy she had ever felt.

The 30-year-old from Tacirua delivered a baby boy at 2.46am at the CWM Hospital yesterday.

Ms Chand was happy to have given birth on Good Friday and said her son was an Easter gift for the family.

“My family is complete now,” Mrs Chand said.

She has two daughters, one is in kindergarten while the other is one year old.

“Even if it was a girl, I would have loved her the same but we have two daughters so we wanted a son and now our family is complete,” she said.

“The first time I held him, I felt all the pain of giving birth had gone.

“Nothing compares to the joy of holding him in my arms.”

She said she will await her husband’s return from Australia so they could have a big celebration when the family unites again.

Her husband, Krishneel Mudalliar, is a professional boxer and has an upcoming match next Saturday.

“He will have to wait until next month to see the baby, so it will be a big celebration when he comes back,” she said.
