‘We tried to put out the fire, but it was too late, I couldn’t save anything, apart from my daughter’s car’

A family of three in Nadawa, Nasinu survived a fire on Friday that completly destroyed their home.

Dewan Chand, 58, said he was at home with his wife and daughter when the fire started.

“It started from my daughter’s room.

“She was charging her phone and was in the kitchen cooking dinner,” he said.

“After a while, we heard a loud noise from her room, when we rushed in to check, the wall was all black and burning.

“ We tried to put out the fire, but it was too late,” he said.

Mr Chand said it was a huge loss for him with an estimated cost of $170,000.

“I couldn’t save anything, apart from my daughter’s car.”

The National Fire Authority confirmed the fire that destroyed the three-bedroom house and investigations continue.
