As part of the Jack’s of Fiji 50th anniversary celebration, the Saffron Mamacita Restaurant, owned by Jack’s of Fiji, provided breakfast on Friday for children at the WOWS Kids Foundation, Rewa St, Suva.

The senior supervisor for the restaurant, Ella Duthie, said it was a touching experience to spend time with children who were fighting the battle against cancer.

“We came in at 9am, got the breakfast ready for the kids, served them and did fun activities with them and to see them smiling is truly touching,” said Ms Duthie.

“It is a special day for the restaurant as we are celebrating our 5th year anniversary but as a whole of Jack’s of Fiji we are in our 50 years of service.”

Among the 11 children who were able to make it was six-year-old Ovolonia Draiva. She is currently undergoing the chemotherapy phrase and is diagnosed with T- Cell Lymphoma.

Her mother, Ana Radaniva of Rararua, Nadroga, was more than happy to see the support and care shown by organisations and individuals.

“The support has been extraordinary and I thank God for the lives of individuals and organisations who lend a helping hand towards the children’s needs,” said Ms Radaniva.

“My daughter is currently going through chemotherapy and it is not an easy experience when I see her go through the pain.

“I feel her pain and cry when I see her cry while she gets her injections. It is always a painful experience.”

Ms Radaniva is urging parents to be alert and pay attention to their children’s well-being because they are just as vulnerable to such diseases like cancer.
