A fire that broke out yesterday afternoon in the boiler area of the CWM Hospital was brought under control and poses no further threat.

In quick response to the situation, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services had to temporarily move patients into prearranged evacuation areas within CWM Hospital.

Some of the patients have been moved back into their wards and others will be moved back to their normal wards this morning.

In light of this unfortunate incident, some services at the CWM Hospital will be disrupted for the next few days, especially the functions of the boiler and the laundry.

The services in anti-natal clinic will be starting later than usual, from 10am today.

Patients are escorted to safety after the fire broke out.

The Ministry will ensure that the functions of priority areas such as labor wards, operating theatre services, intensive care unit and the emergency department are not disrupted.

All other wards at the CWM Hospital will function on emergency mode. Non-core services such as pharmacy and clinics will also be disrupted.

Teams from the Ministry are on the ground working around the clock to bring services back to normal.

The Ministry is also working closely with all the relevant stakeholders to ensure the same.

The Ministry apologises for the inconvenience caused.
