Gallagher Chiefs skipper Sam Cane has praised their Fijian supporters who turned up in numbers at the ANZ Stadium last night.

“Fijians passion for rugby is unmatched anywhere in the world. Over an hour before the match the atmosphere is so much fun,” Cane said.

“We couldn’t be prouder and everybody is happy to be here and is a special feeling for them.”

The Chiefs capitalised their opportunities well in the last 16 minutes to seal an unbelievable 40-27 comeback win last night.

Cane said their focus now was to remain in the top 8.

“After the game like that it would be nice to pull off from that momentum. We just need to finish in the top 8,” he said.

“Our key area for tonight was kickoffs and we were kicking off in two phases and we were backtracking the other way. It took us a couple of times to get it right, I credit the boys.

“It was seriously a tough game, the heat and humidity and seriously I couldn’t be prouder of the boys.”

Crusaders head coach Scott Robertson said: “We’ve doing little things wrong that suddenly will make us work hard. It was tough.

“We were disappointed on how we managed the last 16 minutes.”
