Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side has put themselves in a tough situation to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after their disappointing finish in their pool games at the Women Sevens Series in Biarritz, France yesterday..

This is the third tournament in a row that the Saiasi Fuli –coached Fijiana failed to reach the Cup quarterfinal stage.

In Langford, Canada last month the side  lost all their pool matches going down to France 14-19,  USA 28-7 and Spain 14-21.

A similar story in Kitakyushu, Japan in April where they also had a disappointing finish in their pool matches losing to Ireland 10-31, USA 5-31 and England 15-35.

Fijiana played their opening match against the home side France yesterday and were thumped 29-0.

The Fijians played their second pool match against USA and lost 12-14.

Fijians led after two tries from Vasiti Solikoviti and Raijieli Daveua with one successful conversion. USA struck back scoring two tries and converted both.

The side further faced humiliation when underdog China beat them 15-14.

Asinate Savu was red carded for dangerous tackle.

Fijiana will play Scotland in the Challenge Trophy semifinal today, the result of which will depend on whether they remain in the series next season.
