QAQA Suva’s Plan B was a success as they defended the Skipper Cup Premiership title against BLK Nadroga 34-26 at the ANZ Stadium yesterday.

Head coach Saiasi Fuli said they knew Global Rapid Rugby comp will clash with Skipper Cup Premiership schedules this year and majority of their experienced senior players will participate in.

Therefore they drew up Plan B which is to identify and develop young talented players during the season.

And the young players rose to the occasion yesterday as they fought back and applied the pressure as Nadroga failed to keep up in the second half.

“It’s a good game, hats off to both teams as they deliver and that is what the fans came to see,”Fuli said.

“We identify potential players during our club games. We knew that Global Rapid Rugby comp will clash with Skipper Cup programmes and that’s why we drew up a Plan B.

“Most of our key players are at the GRR in Australia and our development players played well against Nadroga.”

What happened: Suva drew first blood in the 4th minute with Jiuta Takubu scoring and converted by Setareki Raoba, 7-0.

Raoba kicked a penalty for the 10-0 lead in the 11th minute.

Nadroga lifted intensity in the 15th minute allowing Eremasi Radrodro to score under the posts which was converted by Amenoni Nasilasila, 10-7.

In the 18th minute Nasilasila showed his class scoring for the Stallions for the 12-10 lead.

Nacanieli Narekuva scored another try for the Stallions in the 25th minute and Nasilasila added the extra two points, Nadroga 19-10 Suva

Nadroga’s Aca Simolo was sinned binned in the 33rd minute and Raoba bridged the gap, Nadroga 19-13 Suva.

Suva maintained possession in the final minute of the first half utilized their chances well which saw Takubu scoring and converted by Raoba.

Halftime: Suva 20-19 Nadroga.

In the 42nd minute Nadroga turned defence into attack resulting in a try to Radrodro and converted by Nasilasila, 20-26.

Suva scored two quick tries through Raoba and Sorovakatini Tuifagalele. Raoba was on target with both conversions

Fulltime: Suva 34-26 Nadroga.
